Quick Student Guide to MyLabMath

Purdue University — Fall 2026

MyLabMath Log In

  1. Browser: MyLabMath works best with Google Chrome. Firefox is also acceptable. MyLabMath may not work as well with other browsers.
  2. Warning

Do not simply search for “MyLabMath” on Google or go directly to Pearson’s website. You must log in, at least the first time, through Purdue Brightspace.

  3. Brightspace: Use the Brightspace login page at purdue.brightspace.com/d2l/login and complete two-factor authentication to log in.

Once you have logged in to your account in Brightspace, follow the steps below.

    1. Look for your Mathematics course (for example, “SPRING 2026 MA16500-XXX REC”) and select it.
    2. In the menu on the second line at the top, choose Content and select it.
    3. On the left-hand side, look for “Access Pearson MyLab Math” or a similarly named link, and select it.
    4. Select Access Pearson (or a similarly named button).
    5. Select Open MyLab & Mastering. Disable your pop-up blocker and allow pop-ups, at least for Pearson.
  4. Access code required: Students in MA 161, MA 162, MA 165, MA 166, MA 261, MA 262, MA 265, MA 266, and MA 303 must buy an access code, which can be purchased directly from Pearson within MyLabMath. Students who previously bought a multi-semester access code for the Calculus textbook (Briggs, et al.) and are enrolling in another calculus course that uses the same textbook will not need to buy the code again. However, the access code is tied to the textbook: if a student is moving into a course that uses a different textbook, a new access code for that textbook must be purchased, even if the student already owns a code for a different book.
  5. How to purchase the code: It is best to buy a code directly from Pearson within the course link, since that ensures you receive the correct code for your course.
  6. What the code is for: The code gives students access to their online homework and the electronic version of their textbook. A physical copy of the textbook is not required. Students can print a limited number of textbook pages per day and may optionally purchase a loose-leaf edition of the textbook through the MyLabMath course link.
  7. Temporary access for two weeks: Students may select “Get temporary access without payment for 14 days” on the payment options page if they are waiting on financial aid or other funding to purchase full access. Full, paid access must be purchased before the end of the 14th day to remain enrolled in the course.
    Note

The grace period for each textbook is available only once. Students who choose a single-semester (18-week) MyLabMath access code for a given textbook are not eligible for another trial period for that same textbook in a future semester; they will need to purchase access again without the two-week free trial. This restriction does not apply to a different textbook.

Students Who Transfer Between Sections

  1. Students who transfer to a different section should inform their new TA as soon as possible so that previous scores can be correctly transferred.
  2. Students who transfer to a new section should access Pearson through their new Brightspace section so they are enrolled in the correct section of MyLabMath. All future homework should be completed in this new section; otherwise, MyLabMath scores will not synchronize to Brightspace. There is no need to redo online homework that was already completed in the old section — old scores will be migrated to the new section once a transfer request is made to the TA.

Troubleshooting

If you have technical issues accessing MyLabMath, try the following:

  1. Clear your browser’s cache and cookies, then close the browser and try again. The process for clearing cache and cookies differs by browser; search online for instructions specific to your browser if needed. If you would rather not clear your cache, using Chrome’s incognito mode may also work.
  2. Try a different browser (Google Chrome and Firefox are preferred).
  3. Make sure your pop-up blocker is disabled.
  4. Getting a “Session Ended” or “Session Expired” error? Follow the instructions in Your Session Ended, Please Start Again .
  5. Brightspace timing out is a common cause of connection issues. If this happens, log out of Brightspace and log back in.
  6. If these common fixes do not resolve the issue, contact Pearson Technical Support.
  7. Feel free to contact your instructor or TA (if you have one) about non-technical, minor issues with homework — for example, trouble entering a solution to a problem, or if you believe MyLabMath is not accepting a solution you think is correct.
